Today we marked a significant day in history. It is also known as Holocaust Memorial Day. Many Jewish communities in the world will observe this solemn day where approximately 6 millions Jews perished in WWII.
Five years ago, I was in Amsterdam. I fell in love with the people of Netherlands. It is such a beautiful country, the Dutch are the friendliest people on earth. People there are so helpful. Even Before I asked for direction whenever people saw me in trouble, they just stopped and assisted me and point me the direction to my next destination.
I visited Anne Frank Museum and I did not come out the same way I went in. Be prepared for the long queue but it was bearable. This amazing brave, strong and independent little girl has inspired me and so many others.
I think in her wildest dream, would she know that many people over the world come and visit her hiding place, the secret Annex and read her diary. What a legacy she left behind.
The Diary of a young Girl was published later but the 1st edition of Anne Frank’s diary is called Het Achterhuis ( The Secret) 1947. If you have not read and are keen to chew a good book. This book I highly recommend.
To me, Anne Frank is the voice of the 6 million voiceless, oppressed and perished.
Love her famous quote:
“Despite everything, I believe that people are really good at heart.”
