Good Day, Beautiful People!

Life is difficult, but those difficulties, when we face them squarely, are often the secret keys to growth and joy. -Edward Grinnan

One of my Goals for 2016 is to actively seek joy and happiness even when I face difficulties and challenges along the way. Hope and believe for many many many good days ahead. Joy and happiness seems an easy task and yet many fail to achieve that.
My brothers and sisters, you will face all kinds of trouble. When you do, think of it as pure joy. Your faith will be put to the test. You know that when that happens it will produce in you the strength to continue. – James1:2-3 (NIVR)

Consider it a sheer gift, friends, when tests and challenges come at you from all sides. You know that under pressure, your faith-life is forced into the open and shows its true colors. – James1:2-3 (MSG)

Most of us know the meaning of joy and happiness so the reason I wrote definition is purely to revisit and ponder upon the words. As well as for the benefit of others who sadly never able to find joy and happiness yet.

Joy is a state of mind and an orientation of the heart. It is a settled state of contentment, confidence and hope. It is something or someone that provides a source of happiness. – Theopedia

Webster’s dictionary definition: 1) to experience great pleasure or delight : REJOICE, 2) the emotion evoked by well-being, success, or good fortune or by the prospect of possessing what one desires: DELIGHT.

Hebrew dictionary definition: 8057. simchah, sim-khaw’; from H8056 blithesomeness or glee, (religious or festival):– X exceeding (-ly), gladness, joy (-fulness), mirth, pleasure, rejoice (-ing).

Greek dictionary definition: 5479. chara, khar-ah’; from G5463; cheerfulness, i.e., calm delight:–gladness, X greatly, (X be exceeding) joy (-ful, -fully, -fulness, -ous).

Joy depends the internal factors, something deep within while Happiness depends on external factors.

Definition of Happiness is a state of well-being characterized by emotions ranging from contentment to intense joy sense of well-being, joy, or contentment. Happiness is that feeling that comes over you when you know life is good and you can’t help but smile. It’s the opposite of sadness. When people are successful, or safe, or lucky, they feel happiness. The “pursuit of happiness” is something this country is based on, and different people feel happiness for different reasons. Whenever doing something causes happiness, people usually want to do more of it. No one ever complained about feeling too much happiness. -Vocabulary.com

You may think all these are so cliche. But at the end of the day, week, month, year and life, you still have to face you in the mirror and honestly ask yourself what you really really want short term and long term. You owe it to yourself to find real happiness because you are worth it. Happiness is a form of courage. When you express YES to happiness means learning to say NO to  the things and people that stress you out.  Choose to respect yourself enough to walk away from anything that no longer serve you, grow you or make you HAPPY. The wise Mandy Hale affirmed that “Happiness starts with you. Not with your relationship, your friends or your job. But with you.”

This is a research done by Harvard lessons from the longest study on Happiness that may give you some insight.

Eat Clean [Mange proprement, Comer limpio]

Good Day, Beautiful People!

I’m NOT here to condemn anyone lifestyle or eating habit. Is all about what you want to embrace in your life? What is your priority? I’m not 100% there. Sometimes, I’ve indulgence as I’m a real foodie after all. I’m always a work in progress towards my goals and aims in getting the fullest out of life.

Often I ask myself, most people don’t care of what they eat until their health are compromised. Guilty charged, writer included. I had a major health scare 2013 that make me review my life. Ask myself truthfully, what changes must I make as God graciously give me second chance of life that I’m not going to waste it!  I want to live my life purposefully, consciously and intentionally not leaving to fate or my stupid choices or whatever life take over.

These are some of my little self reminder:

Sharing one of my own favourite fruits and vegetables juicing recipe in the morning. I prepare the chopped vegetables and fruits the night before and put them in the blender, keep it in the fridge. Ready to juice the next morning.

Choose no GMO, chemical free and organic if you can. If budget constraint, or the preferred options not available soak your vegetables and fruits in 1 part vinegar and 2 parts water and sea salt for 15mins to wash off surface dirt and chemical. Better still grow some green if you can like some of my mates that have green thumbs.

Ingredients:

Garlic 1 clove

Ginger zest or grate 1tsp

Flaxseed  1 tsp

Omega 3  1-2 capsules

Beet 1 small or 1/2 big

Celery 1 stick

Blueberries or mix berries 1 small handful

Carrot 1

Chia seeds 1 tsp

Mint  a few leaves

Basil a few leaves

Parsley a few leaves

Lemon juice 1 tsp

Apple Cider Vinegar  1 tsp

Manuka or raw organic Honey 1 tsp

Coconut or organic yoghurt  1-2 tbs

Almond or Coconut or any milk 150ml

Water 150ml

Blend and drink up!

Hope you give it a go!  Enjoy, Bon appétit!

I leave the best for last… Can’t do life without humour.

Falling Forward [Tomber en avant]

2015/01/img_6725.png

Good Day, Beautiful People!

Sometimes life gets in your way. Things happened or some situations made you so frustrated and overwhelmed.

Last Monday was one of those days. Woke up late, in a hurry to get to work. Next minute, I ended missing a step, doing random gravity check, kissing the “holy ground”, trying to be a hero saving my laptop! It always looks and sounds so hilarious when you watch it on TV, especially on Australia Funniest Home Videos unless it happens to be you. Go ahead, laugh at my expense if you have good imagination. At least, I manage to make your day. Thank God, I’ve no broken bones. Only swollen ankles and knees, bruised ego, palms, sore elbows, shoulders and lower back.
Well, I guess prayers, TLC (tender, loving, care) from family and friends are great support, painkillers, massages and physiotherapy were my best buddies.

2015/01/img_6618.jpg

As if that is not enough, this Monday I twisted my left hip for no good reason. Medical explanation is my body trying to overcompensate due to pain. Some are more inclined with divine explanation may feel is a spiritual attack. Sound more to me like a pathetic and annoying drama one after another. Seriously, I do not have time to slow down. I resent even more when I am forced to rest, especially when timing is all wrong. I am sure some of you can relate to this.

This got me thinking. When we were young, as toddlers we learnt to fall before we learnt to walk. Each fall a child learns to gauge better. Eventually, a child learns to stabilise and walk with confidence. Before you know that child is running like a roadrunner. Figuratively and literally speaking, we all have to learn to fall and fail before we can get up, shake it off and start the process all over again till we succeed.

Question is as an adult how many of us really apply this principle. We can choose to sit there and sulk, even throw ourselves a pity party or we can choose to dust ourselves off, get up, stabilise, try again and again, move forward till we accomplish and triumph. The sooner we choose to get up and try again the better we recover and get back on our race lane. Is good to have that simple childlike mentality, have the spirit of perseverance, persistence, bravery, courage, determination, dedication, willpower, assurance, steadfastness, conviction and confidence to do it till we get there. Can you imagine how good this is for our soul, mind and body.

2015/01/img_6733.jpg

In case you are feeling, deflated, burnt out, blue, disappointed and discouraged today, yet you have made it this far. So I consider that is really strong and courageous. The moment when you feel like quitting is the moment when you need to keep pushing. Often the temptation to quit will be greatest just before you about to succeed. I am sure you heard of this saying, “God is up to something or the devil wouldn’t be fighting you this hard. You’re going to win!” Hope this encourage you somehow to get up again and give another go regardless how distasteful the situation you are in.

Below are some inspiration quotes for you to ponder:
Even when you fall down on your face, you’re still moving forward. – Victor Kiam
The greatest accomplishment is not in never falling, but is rising after you fall. – Vince Lombardi
If you fall behind, run faster, never give up, never surrender and rise up against the odds. – Jesse Jackson
The greatest glory in living is lies not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall. – Ralph Waldo Emerson

Robin Williams [Celebrating the Funniest Man on Earth 21/7/1951-11/8/2014]

IMG_3241.JPG
Good Morning, Vietnam…
“GOOOD BYEEEEEE, Robin Williams!” The world is shocked and saddened by the news of Robin Williams’ death. It is hard for many include myself to believe and comprehend that the funniest guy on earth was also the saddest guy on earth. I am still trying to reconcile the loss of this wonderful super charged energiser comic genius!
Over the years, this Comic Genius had brought so much joy and warmth to countless household.
IMG_3242-0.JPG

This served as an expensive reminder for us certainly life is short and fragile. I am sure we all know some people in our world who suffer from depression. We may not really know what people are going through and the battles they are fighting. Be kind and caring enough to check on loved ones and people in your sphere. Sometime, a text message, a quick call, a smile and your quiet presence will make a big difference.

Clinical Depression is like having cancer in the mind. A depressed person is trapped in his or her dark mind that cannot see light at the end of the tunnel. He or she may subject to these feelings: anti-social, defensive, sensitive, lonely, isolated with suppressed anger and people around he /she do not understand and do not how to give appropriate help. Good Professional help is needed. Yet professional help does not always get it right. If they just concentrate to treat the roots of the issue instead of the surface and symptoms of depression will have better rate of recovery. Suicide watch is key for spiral down clinical depression. Depression is not bias; it can hit anyone, including christians, atheists, metaphysics, and other believers at any age, any gender, rich or poor. It is stated “Four temperaments is a proto-psychological theory that suggests that there are four fundamental personality types, sanguine (pleasure-seeking and sociable), choleric (ambitious and leader-like), melancholic (analytical and quiet), and phlegmatic (relaxed and peaceful). Most formulations include the possibility of mixtures of the types.” -Wikipedia. People who are melancholic are likely to subject to depression than the other three temperaments. In general, people are likely to have a mix of two or more temperaments with one stonger temperament than others. In my humble opinion, is harder for others to notice depression in someone who is sanguine than melancholic. There is no shame for one to recognise and own up this issue. No one should suffer depression alone. With the support of divine guidance, family, loved ones, close friends and good professional help, one can fight depression.

Nevertheless, Robin Williams’ family want us to remember him as kind and generous soul. We will always remember the joy and laughter he provided in our family rooms.

Below are some Robin Williams’ famous, funny and inspirational quotes:

“If it’s the psychic network why do they need a phone number?”

But oh, to be free. Not to have to go “Poof! What do you need? Poof! What do you need? Poof! What do you need?” To be my own master. Such a thing would be greater than all the magic and all the treasures in all the world. “But what am I talking about? Let’s get real here, that’s never gonna happen. Genie, wake up and smell the hummus.” -As the Genie, from Aladdin (1992)

“You’ll have bad times, but it will always wake you up to the good stuff you won’t paying attention to.” –As Sean Maguire, from Good Will Hunting (1997)

“My first day as a woman and I’m getting hot flashes!” – as Mrs. Doubtfire (1993)

“The truth is, if anything, I’m probably addicted to laughter.” – Robin Williams

“Never fight with an ugly person, they’ve got nothing to lose.” -Robin Williams

“But only in their dreams can men be truly free. It was ever thus and always thus be.” -As John Keating, from Dead Poets Society (1989)

“No matter what people tell you, words and ideas can change the world.” -Robin Williams

I love The Laugh Factory’s marquee was lit up with the words “Robin Williams Rest in Peace Make God Laugh,” after word of his death on August 11 spread and shocked the world. http://www.christiantoday.com/article/make.god.laugh.marquee.robin.williams.celebrity.reactions.actors.death/39551.htm#!

Moms’ Night Out

Good Day, Beautiful People!
Last month, my working sisterhood connect organised http://www.thea21campaign.org/index.php the A21 Campaign fundraising movie event. The ladies choice was http://momsnightoutmovie.com/ Moms’ Night Out. I pitched in to coodinate and rally the ladies out for fun and doing good deed at the same time. We are so stoked that we raised A$314 for the night. Honestly, is an excellent, heartwarming, entertaining comedy with a compelling message for single and family to watch. Seriously, you don’t have to be a mom to enjoy this movie. I am not a mom and I utterly love this movie. Personally, I don’t know why this movie has received many critics and bad reviews. I still don’t quite get it. Perhaps the saying is truth,”haters gonna hate, no matter you are doing good or bad. They still have something to say.”

Below are some good endorsement from some high profile people.

“I love this movie! I wish I could treat every mom to a bucket of popcorn just to watch her laugh.” Beth Moore, teacher and author

“It’s always great to find a movie that you can enjoy with your family. That’s what my friends the Erwin Brothers have created with Moms’ Night Out. Enjoy it with your whole family!”
Michael W. Smith, Grammy-Award Winning Singer / Songwriter

“I saw Moms’ Night Out with my friends and we started laughing during the opening credits. This movie is hilariously funny from beginning to end! Yet, there’s also a message of hope and love that’s encouraging and uplifting. Whether you’re single, married, a mom or a grandma, it’s an absolutely entertaining movie that girls of all ages will love. (And men will too!)” Stacy Burnett, Director of Communications, Gateway Church
“MOMS’ NIGHT OUT is laugh-out-loud funny for Moms AND Dads and yet completely kid-friendly. It’s the perfect representation of the ‘Beautiful Mess’ of family life with kids.” Sherry Surratt, CEO, MOPS International
“Motherhood might just be the highest calling on the planet. Moms, that’s why it’s important for you to take some time for yourselves to be celebrated. Grab your husbands, grab your friends, and go see Moms’ Night Out, a family comedy you are going to love!” Dave Ramsey
Moms’ Night Out is a fun movie with a powerful message. You don’t have to be perfect to be a good mom (or dad). You can’t resign from being a parent; so you may as well enjoy the journey. True-to-life comedy at its best.” Gary Chapman, Ph.D., Author, The Five Love Languages
Moms’ Night Out will make mothers everywhere laugh, cry, and remember that their work is hard not because they’re doing it wrong—but because mothering is HERO’S work! Grab your girls, a sitter, and treat yourself to this gift! You’ll leave refreshed, full of hope, and ready to jump back into battle!” Glennon Doyle Melton, Author of New York Times bestseller Carry On, Warrior; Founder, Momastery.com
“I’m thrilled to have my song featured in Moms’ Night Out. As a mom I can totally relate to this film, and I think every mom will feel like their life is being played out on the screen. It’s hilarious and heartwarming and a quality film that the whole family can enjoy together.” Natalie Grant, Recording Artist
Moms’ Night Out is the type of film we wish there were more of: fun and funny for the whole family, touching and sweet, with a simple reminder of God’s love for us. This isn’t just a Moms Night Out — this is a date night and family night all rolled into one.” Gary Smalley, Bestselling Author and Speaker
Moms’ Night Out is not only an incredibly funny and relatable film for moms, but SURPRISE: it’s a movie that the whole family will still be laughing about and quoting long after seeing it. Count our family in for a Family Movie Night on Mother’s Day weekend.” Pastors Matthew and Caroline Barnett, The Dream Center and Angelus Temple, Los Angeles
Moms’ Night Out is a game changer. I laughed out loud so many times, fell in love with the characters, saw myself in their real-life situations, and wept at how the film spoke directly to my heart. This is a must-see for every mom and just a fantastic, feel-good family comedy. We loved it so much!!!” Francesca Battistelli, Recording Artist
Moms’ Night Out was laugh-out-loud funny and yet a very sweet story that every person in any family (moms, dads and kids) can relate to. It’s fun to watch from beginning to end and something you never see in a comedy anymore: it’s clean and safe for all ages!”
Jackie Garner, Women’s Ministry Director, Lakewood Church
Moms’ Night Out is funny, heart-warming, and not just for moms. Head to the theater with your friends, your husband, your young kids, your teens, your parents—and be prepared to laugh ’til you cry! No need to worry about awkward scenes, questionable language or innuendo—just funny, real-life comedy. Don’t miss it!”  Brenda Bayliss, National Program Manager, American Heritage Girls
“I alternated between snort-laughing out loud and soft, silly sobs while watching this larger than life portrait of the fun, craziness, and beauty of the vocation of motherhood. The film entertains, but also enlightens, on the true value of every mom’s work and worth. A great film for the whole family!” Lisa Hendey, Founder, CatholicMom.com
“When a movie cracks you up, gives you a keener view on your wife’s gnarly job as a mom, and helps you celebrate your family, that’s a great date night with your wife. Go with another couple and multiply the laughs.”
Jeff Kemp, Former NFL Quarterback, Vice President Family Life
“We laughed from the beginning to the end.” Mike Young, President and Founder, Noble Warriors
Moms’ Night Out honors women—and in particular mothers—like no other film I’ve seen. It doesn’t paint a glossy picture of motherhood, but it shows moms for who they are: The unsung heroes of our day who sacrifice so much to shape the next generation.”
Patrick Novecosky, Editor of Legatus magazine
“A powerful and humorous look inside the everyday family. One that makes you stand and applaud women everywhere who embrace the role of ‘Mommy’!” Joe Pellegrino, President, Legacy Minded Men

Well, if you haven’t seen it on the big screen, get the DVD or rent the DVD to enjoy with family and friends.

Laugh

20140318-200627.jpg

Well, who like to argue with Dr Seuss’s philosophy. I’m sticking to his side. “I like nonsense, it wakes up the brain cells. Fantasy is necessary ingredient in living, it’s a way of looking at life through the wrong end of telescope. Which is what I do, and that enables you to laugh at life’s realities.”

To truly laugh, you must be able take pain, and play with it. – Charlie Chaplin
We all know that life is never a bed of roses. There are seasons and you cannot avoid. During the season of darkness and pain, you literally have to take every once of body to find that joy. You need some people come along side to create the laughter, tell you jokes and see some comedy movies to lighten the hard season. Challenging season don’t last, the strong people last. Soon you will able to laugh and play again without effort.

Sharing this as it cracks me up! Lol Can’t wait to see the movie Noah by Russell Crowe.

HAPPY

20140317-174941.jpg

Good day, Beautiful People!
How awesome to know that talented Celebrity like Pharrell Williams is contributing back to society. His charity From One Hand To Another. So great that he is building a $35million after school centre in his hometown Virginia Beach. That just make me smile, knowing some high risk kids and teens are off the street at a safe place.

Whenever my mate, Jen & I listen to this song, we just forget about the daily grind and start doing the crazy dance. A good idea to release stress.

Love this song: Happy by Pharrell Williams
[Verse 1:]
It might seem crazy what I’m about to say
Sunshine she’s here, you can take a break
I’m a hot air balloon that could go to space
With the air, like I don’t care baby by the way

[Hook:]
Because I’m happy
Clap along if you feel like a room without a roof
Because I’m happy
Clap along if you feel like happiness is the truth
Because I’m happy
Clap along if you know what happiness is to you
Because I’m happy
Clap along if you feel like that’s what you wanna do

[Verse 2:]
Here come bad news talking this and that, yeah,
Well, give me all you got, and don’t hold back, yeah,
Well, I should probably warn you I’ll be just fine, yeah,
No offense to you, don’t waste your time
Here’s why

[Hook]

Hey, come on

[Bridge:]
(happy)
Bring me down
Can’t nothing bring me down
My level’s too high
Bring me down
Can’t nothing bring me down
I said (let me tell you now)
Bring me down
Can’t nothing bring me down
My level’s too high
Bring me down
Can’t nothing bring me down
I said

[Hook 2x]

Hey, come on

(happy)
Bring me down… can’t nothing…
Bring me down… my level’s too high…
Bring me down… can’t nothing…
Bring me down, I said (let me tell you now)

[Hook 2x]

Come on
